Lent is coming! Let us worship God together!

February 7th, 2022

Augustana Lutheran Church has a lot in store for this coming Lenten Season starting with Ash Wednesday service on March 2nd @7:00 pm.

It is a common practice for many to do some form of fasting during Lent. Perhaps you take a break from soda, sweets, or television. This Lenten season Augustana Lutheran Church invites you to ADD a spiritual practice. We are purchasing, “Grace Unbounded: Devotions for Lent 2022”, for the members of our congregation. This is a daily devotional that begins with an evocative image and a brief passage from the Gospel of Luke. The writers then bring their unique voices and pastoral wisdom to the texts with quotations to ponder, reflections, and prayers.

As a church we invite all our members to take a little time out of their day to partake in this daily devotion during Lent!

We will also have Wednesday night Lenten worship services and supper. Different committees and groups from our church will provide a soup and sandwich meal starting at 5:30pm in Luther Hall. Worship will begin at 6:30pm in Luther Hall.

We will be using “Holden Evening Prayer” for our services. Our discussion topics for each Sunday will be based off of Dan Kimball’s book, “How (Not) to Read the Bible”. Each discussion is meant to illuminate our relationship with God’s written word.

You do not need read the book to participate in the faithful reflection and discussion time at our Wednesday services. If you do wish to read the book we will have a sign up sheet in the back of the sanctuary. You can also sign up for a book by emailing office@andoverlutheran.org.
